Part 2 of the epicer one

Alex felt relieved as they safely exited the galactic gate. It wasn't that departing a gate was unreliable, it was how that got tricky. Formerly, one might exit the gate upside-down, backwards, head first, or even be ejected from the gate at a speed excess of 100 kilometers per hour while spinning at an uncontrollable rate. Thankfully, some genius had figured out that if you arrayed several artificial gravitational beams around the gate, that you would normally come out with the correct orientation. Still you never could tell when something could go wrong. As Chris exited the gate and the void vortex shut down, Alex turned to face the base. He was stunned by the massive size of it. All three of the Cadets stood for a few moments starring at the rows of factories, more than a dozen fusion reactors, 8 moho metal makers, rows of defender missile towers, and a scattering flakkers, with guardians lining the coast. Davenport just shook his head and smiled. "Come on boys, we got work to do," and strode of in between two advanced K bot labs toward the center of the base where a commander stood surrounded by 4 T1 airplants. Alex turned to follow him, "hes right, we better hurry up." "Wouldn't want to keep the Core waiting now would we?" Joren agreed. They set off after Davenport, the ground shaking at their footfalls. Commander Davenport was waiting with Colonel Hail at the center of the base. "So I here you boys get to take out a Core outpost, eh?" She asked. "Yes Ma'am," Chris said. "Well at least there's enough of you this time," she said with a wink. This time? Alex thought. "Well I'll hand over command of some units to you, just what do you want to take with?" Hail asked.

"We should only need 4 Atlases...." "of course you do," the Colonel cut him off, "but I think that some peepers might help, yes? With a pair of freedom fighters for good luck." Alex looked down at his HUD which flashed him that a Atlas air transport and two Freedom fighters had been transferred to him. It appeared that Chris and Joren had both gotten an Atlas and a squad of Peeper scouts, however Commander Davenport only received an Atlas from her. "Best of wishes to you." Colonel Hail said, and strode of to guard an advanced air plant in the distance.

* * * * *

The Atlases flew towards the landing zones while the sun rose in the distance. Davenport smiled in his commander mech, "Alright boys, its time to have some fun." Alex quickly agreed, "yes sir, should we scout the enemy base?" "No, we don't want them to figure out we're here yet, trust me, its not fun rushing out AA while shadows bomb the crud out of you." "yes sir." Alex felt the huge metal grips of the Atlas release him, and immediately began making a solar generator he had just finished and was beginning construction on a metal extractor when he heard Davenport's voice yelling at him; "Alex, what the heck is that." "Um, what sir?" "A solar generator? HERE? make tidal generators or I will personally tear your head off, never ever make solar plants unless there isn't any tidal and wind is giving you less than 12 units of energy, clear?" "yes sir." Alex walked into the water and began creating a series of tidal generators to support his metals. Once these were done he began construction of a sea plant, and opened communications to his friends. "I'm going sea." Chris replied, "air," and Joren informed them that he was going to go for advanced units and would provide economic support for them. Surprisingly Davenport logged in; "I'm just gonna watch for the most part but Ill give support if needed."

* * * * *
After about 8 minutes, Davenport got a Tier 2 vehicle plant and got up advanced radar. He immediately qued his radio: "they know were here." The statement was a response to 3 radar dots that matched the speed of CORE Fink class scout planes moving straight at his base. His suspicions were confirmed as the Finks flew overhead before being shot down by a battery of 18 defender missile towers. Soon after the scouts, two shadow class bombers flew into his base and destroyed a metal extractor. The Extractor was easily rebuilt, but the raid was still annoying. Suddenly he noticed nearly 20 slow moving dots on his radar. "what the?" then his eyes widened. He qued a Phalanx mobile flak gun from his advanced vehicle plant and ran over to rush it. He also ordered a new line of defenders from his T1 con vehicles and ordered his 2 new advanced cons to create a Flakker, and he soon saw his economy put in a significant strain. It wouldn't matter though unless he survived. Davenport saw he wouldn't finish either Flak weapon in time, although 2 additional defenders had been added, and began walking towards the water. At that moment, 20 Rapier gunships flew into his line of sight and decimated his base. Dozens of missiles flew threw the air, killing both Rapier and Defender alike. In the end though, the T2 planes were victorious and the 8 surviving gunships turned to incinerate the ARM commander, but he was already disappearing beneath the waves. Three missiles hit his commander, but it's huge armor took the hits without a problem. Davenport looked up, relieved that the gunships hadn't hit him. The 5 Snake class CORE subs hiding beneath the surface did however.

Alex gulped, not only at the death of their mentor that caused the Commander class suit to go Nuclear, but it was the display of Tactics involved in the destruction that was even more disturbing. That was to Intelligent for an Automated base defense program. Their was an enemy commander on the battlefield.

the epicer one

A Core commander stomped through his base, his massive footfalls causing the ground to shake. The Metal monster strode towards a huge factory, larger than even a Krogoth gantry, situated at the middle of his base. A voice sounded, literally, in the back of his mind: "incoming transmission" He immediately answered, "yes master?" For it was central consciousness that had hailed him. "Is Operation Arbiter ready to move into phase two?" "yes master, Phase one was completed just moments ago." "good, begin the second phase of the mission immediately" The transmission was already fading as Core commander Alphan693 replied; "as you wish, my master."

The Arm's main Commander academy was lit up brilliantly with hover cars filling up almost every parking space and fireworks were being fired up as the the graduation ceremony was concluded. Three friends sat at a table at the edge of the ceremony. One, who was named Alex, was speaking. "huh, we'll probably be gated out of here before morning, At the rate the war is going and here everyone is getting drunk and staying up till 2 in the morning, not exactly a fit state to command an army in, is it?" Chris, another of the newly minted commanders, thought for a moment; "well it certainly wont improve there judgement capabilities, and that's the truth." Joren, the third, and also the economist of the trio, smiled and said, "yeah, exactly the kind of people you want commanding a 950 million credit, 50 foot tall, heavily armed and armored robotic killing machine, now don't you?" "give 'em a break," said a voice from behind them. Commander Davenport, a 15 year veteran, walked to the table. "Their just haven a little fun." The junior commanders smiled. "However, your all ordered to retire to your quarters, immediately." "What happened to having some fun?" "Well its just that we don't think people who will be commanding an army in the morning should get drunk or stay up till two AM." The colonel smiled back.

Chris sat in a dark room with Joren and Alex, surrounded by screens displaying a large area on the planet Thalasian. The planet was a huge ocean, with islands being very common. "The Core has a small airbase on this island. It is serving as a defensive outpost to their main base on the planet, about 160 kilometers to the North of its location. For convenience's sake we are going to call this outpost "zeta." Now Zeta consists of 2 basic air plants, a sea plant, several pulveriser batteries, and a few metal extractors and tidal generators." Alex rolled his eyes. These field trainings were supposed to be challenging. Apparently they weren't. "There are also a few air repair pads that service squads of shadows and avengers that form the patrols." Joren glanced at the display screen that showed the base. "You will be dropped here," he pointed to a cluster of islands on the screen, "about 30 kilometers from the outpost. The Core should have detected you after about 5 minutes, but by that time You should be able to fend them off, as no advanced aircraft are believed to be in the area. The three of you and commander Davenport will gate to the planet in 15 minutes. From our main base you will be taken to your objectives by Atlas transport craft. From this moment, until the end of the world, all three of you will have your names recorded as Commander in any official document, and you are all given the entrance rank of captain in the Commander division of the military." The briefer stopped for a moment and looked over them with almost sad eyes. "Gentleman, no matter what happens out there on the field during your hopefully long careers, it has been an honor to know all of you, and all of your class mates." As the briefer turned his unit patch shone in the light of the screen for a second. In that time Chris recognized the patch. It belonged to a commander squad that had attacked Grindonhurst 23 years ago. A squad that had been slaughtered in that assault. And a squad that had only one survivor. As the briefing ended, Chris walked over to the man, "it was an honor to be briefed by you sir," and shook his hand.

* * * * *

A ladder was descending from the front of the massive bipedal giant that stood in the Nuclear blast proof Concrete and steel bunker 10 miles to the east of the Arms main commander academy, more than a dozen other machines were repeating the action around the bunker. Chris touched the side of the Commander units legs. He had piloted a commander before of course, but this time was going to be in combat. Were there are real lasers and plasma shells flying at real targets. Namely him, for instance. This time he might Die. He climbed up the ladder. He wouldn't die of course. Not this time. This was just a training mission wasn't it? Nothing to worry about. But what about the next time? or the time after that? or after that, or that.... Chris was jolted back to reality by the loudspeaker. "squad 117 report to Gate immediately ."
That was his squad. Chris quickly strapped himself into the command chair of the 50 foot mech.
He keyed for the ladder to retract into the commanders chest and it did so instantly, creating a barrier between him and the outside world that would stop lasers, radiation, or even chemical weapons. The command displays flickered on one by one, showing him a overhead view of the bunker, as well as a 360 view of the area. Now he had to move his commander through the bunker and to the galactic gate. He could do this 2 ways, first he could issue a move way point to the gate on his command screen, or he could manually walk the commander to the gate. He chose the later. The other graduates looked up at him as the massive walker strolled to the huge turbolift in the center of the bunker. It raised him up to the top of the bunker, where the galactic gate sat. His squadmates were already there, "what took you so long," Joren asked over the transmitter in each of the commanders. "Hes still on time," Davenport said, "we are cleared to gate at our leisure, so lets not keep command waiting. After me please." Davenports commander strode up into the unfolded gate. Alex followed closely, then Joren, and finally Chris. A jolt ran through him as his commander was pulled into the Void Vortex, and suddenly Chris and the rest of his comrades were falling through space time.

Supreme Commander

To all who don't know I also play another fun RTS game named Supreme Commander (2 to be exact) and I have decided to include a few SupCom strategies here in TA tips and strategies. More info on SC2, Supreme commander is essentially the sequel to TA. The first SC was very similar with tech tiers lots of basically the same units. (Mech Marine = Peewee, Loyalist = Maverick, Galactic collossus = Krogoth) However in SC2 there are no tech tiers, but a research tree, through which u unlock new units and upgrade existing ones. This means that a unit that is useful in the first few minutes of the game is still ever bit as useful in the last minutes of the game, if you have spent the points to upgrade it. Although it isnt TA, sup com is still fun. Just because u like one game doesnt mean you cant play others (looks at thinair) and enjoy them. So please, enjoy the posts on Sup com.

Arm basic defenses

This post details some of the structures made by your commander and tech one construction units that will defend your base in one way or another for the Arm.

1. The LLT. LLT stands for light laser tower. It is a rapid firing medium cost defense with short range and and good turret tracking that sometimes allows it to shoot down planes (sometimes). Much to the disliking of Thinair I will usually make ONE (and only one) on cluster freak to avoid the accursed Freedom fighter rush (detailed later) other than a desperate and rather ineffective anti raid weapon (and smart raiders will bring Samsons or Rockos allowing them to out range LLTs) The upside to it is that it will only use about ten energy points a second when firing. This means you can actually support two of them just with your commanders energy production, although if your commys your only energy unit after about thirty seconds, you are probably dead. All in all the LLT is pretty terrible, do not make unless desperate, or make one on CF and you have a FF above your base, picking of your aircraft as they are made.**

2. Sentinel. This is the medium laser defense the Arm can make. suddenly everyone is probably shouting "what????? its the heavy laser you Moron!!!!!!" yes technically its the heavy laser tower. BUT there is one that is heavier still, but its an advanced Defense and therefor will not be covered yet. All in all a Sentinel will be a good Anti heavy unit, sort of. you see there are two kinds of Sentinels. Dragons teethed Sentinels (turret surrounded by fortifications) and non Dragons teethed sentinels. The DT (dragon's toothed) Sentinels are Awesome against short range units and some medium range units (DT will even stop the mighty Samson or Slasher in it's tracks). Non DT turrets are Vulnerable and are picked off easily by the experienced player.
Also, always make sure to support your Sentinels with Guardians and MTs, and never make more than 1 or 2, unless going turtle. Guardians are a much better choice to spend on, but HLTs have certain uses that they are good at (such as Pelican Killing). ****

3. What I am about to Describe is the most widely made Defense in TA: the Defender Missile tower. Its cheap, short build time great range, and Anti air, but it does suffer low health. To give you an idea, the most common way to describe these are Defender Forests. That gives you an idea as to how many most everyone makes. Essentially, the rule with Defenders is to make Dozens early game, keep expanding them, never be afraid to make more. Also, spread them out, don't make a line, the area damage will kill them. Spread 'em out, It may not look as nice but it sure is effective. Make as many of these as possible. *****

4. Guardian: Arm light plasma battery. Great unit, with awesome range, damage, health and surprising accuracy..... and a cost to match. This is an AWESOME defense, but its just to expensive to mass like MT s (a guardian costs 40 Defenders). Its a great ship and land killer, but can be over whelmed. Make this unit on almost any map, if u have resources for it. *****

ARm Level 1 Vehicles

Ahh.... Here we go, the ever important vehicle plant:

Con. Vehicle: An AWESOME unit, high speed, high nanolathe, its just better than the Con. bot.
i will make about 5 of these early game to go out and cap metal deposits and make Missile towers. very versatile i highly recommend using this as your primary con unit.*****

JEFFEY: Arm scout vehicle. there is only one way to put this: They stink. Please, make peepers instead, they are faster and have radar, but a jeffey just goes around and gets shot full of holes. However, there is one, and ONLY one, good reason to use these guys, when FLASH dashing your enemy, make a few of these cheap units to make it seem like u have more FLASHES on Radar. Fear can be a better weapon than a nuke. As long as your enemy is going: What if?!?!? then u have an advantage. Counter with anything.**

FLASH: ARM "fast assault tank" It's basically like Chris Taylor took a PEEWEE, but it in a tank body, put a little more power to it's EMGs and, Made it faster, gave it heavier armor, and then asked God to bless it to be Awesome. The FLASH is arguably the best unit in TA, and the closest thing to perfect that man has ever made. Some players say that these are "cheap" units and are bad because they don't allow for late game battles because the player who has them first wins. Basically the best way to use flashes are to early game rush someone, plow through their base, surround their commander, and then inflict enough damage to cause the commander to have a severe case of the "Death." This is a catastrophic sickness that makes the commander explode with a force more powerful than a Nuclear Bomb. Also, flashes can be used late game, but typically against other tanks rather than infantry, (the Peewee trick vs. Heavy tanks can also be used with flashes). AWESOME unit, thank you Chris!!!! make as many flashes as it seems fit. counter with: Cans, gunships, and Flashes and samsons of your own. *****

Podger: ARM mine layer. Slow, useless, dumb, and it's mines just take up space on the unit limit. Do not make*

Stumpy: Medium TAnk. This is a unit without a place, it's cannon powerful, but it misses all of the time, it lives in it's little brother's shadow, only good for base busting.***

SAMSON: The arm missile vehicle. Fun to use and easy to make, shoots down aircraft, and kills land units easily when used en mass. do not use by itself though, all ways make many of them, good for gaining large amounts of territory. Good unit. Make lots of these. counter with your own samsons or DTed mobile artillary.*****

ARm Level 1 Aircraft

This post will contain the Details of the Arm level one Aircraft. They are made by an aircraft plant. (Gasp!) Aircraft are very useful in TA where they can provide support for ships and ground troops.

Construction Aircraft: A fast moving Construction platform, it can traverse great distances quickly and construct an oversees colony without the need to make an Atlas and a Con. unit to take it there. However, they do have their flaws. They are vulnerable to AA fire and the worst part of it, There nanolathe makes things at such a slow pace some think it better just to make a Transport to send in a Regular con. unit. This is why you commonly see Con. Aircraft working in teams to make up for their lower nanolathe. When you have a large team of these you can actually make things EXTREMELY fast: My friend once made a Krogoth in 38 seconds with con. aircraft rushing it. All in all a good unit, make on maps that are mainly water or mountains. ****

Freedom Fighter: As the name explains, this is a fighter. A good aircraft, much superior to the Core Avenger. You will see alot of these on Cluster freak and several other maps. You should make this unit, however don't overdue it. It's only so good. Switch to Hawks as soon as possible. Also this unit is vulnerable to AA fire, so it's not an ideal escort fighter. Use to guard your base and chew up avenger formations, An FF can take on Avengers 2 to 1 and win. Counter with missile towers. ***

Thunder: ARM's level 1 bomber. This unit has a smaller payload than it's Core relative, but is faster and turns faster. This makes it the ultimate raiding aircraft. Also use a Peeper to scout out targets for it. once fond almost anything can be destroyed by 6 or 7 Thunders. These can also be used against Naval forces, but not as effective as Torpedo bombers are at this. Use wisely, as they are vulnerable to AA. Good raider, but doesn't have the power to compete with the Core EQ. so it lives in it's Shadow (hehehe) ***

Atlas: The Arm air transport. This unit will transport a single other unit to a location quite rapidly. It's great for expanding on cluster freak or Hundred Islands. BUT!!!!! do not use this to try and send an Army at the enemy base, u simply need to many atlas's and it takes to long to load and unload them all. Also, scout ahead to determine the location of enemy AA because the Atlas is EXTREMELY vulnerable to it. and if your Commy gets killed, u lose. Good unit, but don't try and use them while AA is at hand. ****

PEEPER: The arm scout plane, Known as "PEEPS" Good scouts, with a short Radar and high speeds. This aircraft is almost immune to AA via it's high speed. But, it's unarmed so it can;t be used to bomb things. What a pity. Also use peeps to get the general layout of the enemy base. Remember in war, information is your greatest ally, Alot of it will normally result in your victory, a lack of it will probably end with your defeat. *****
